Jeg Sovnet I Krigen
by William Bredvik
[Various materials ; 2022]
This grim motif, which is a direct reference to the album cover of Finnish black metal project Havukruunu's 2020 LP "Uinuos Syömein Sota" , evokes a sense of despair and hopelessness. As if the two identical kings know that the defeat of the other only means the death of themselves.
The artwork was made specifically in connection with the 2022 exhibition by the class of Kerstin Brätsch in the Akademie Galerie Nürnberg.

O-Jizō
by William Bredvik
[Sandstone ; 2022]
O-Jizō is an artwork, which tries to critically reflect on modern political issues through traditional craftsmanship. By presenting us with a depiction of the Bodhisattva Kṣitigarbha, commonly referred to as Jizō in Japan, the artist encourages us to search for the significance and role this figure can still play for us today in society.
O-Jizō x Morty

[chalk on paper ; 2022]
These sketches were created simultaneously during the sculpting process of the above artwork "O-Jizō". At the same time, they were meant to connect the sculpture to the exhibition "Dear Developer, ..." at the Kunstverein Nürnberg. This seemingly archaic figure is now seen donning robotic arms, much like the robotic arm in the neighboring room of the Kunstverein.

True Bastarda

[.otf file / font ; 2022]
As the name suggests, this project was heavily inspired by European gothic fonts. Specifically cursive script, will always have a unique and personal character to it. Here we can see how this calligraphic nature is captured in the sweeping style in which the letters are drawn.
This font was created using Glyphs3
The sample pages are drawn from an upcoming graphic novel by the artist.
